Terms of Service
Last updated: October 29, 2026
1. Who we are and what this agreement covers
NannyFinder ("NannyFinder," "we," "us," or "the Platform") is operated by NannyFinder LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the NannyFinder website and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, browsing profiles, messaging another user, writing a recommendation, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Sections 4 and 11 through 15 limit NannyFinder's responsibility for other users and for any childcare arrangement you make. Section 18 explains how disputes are handled. Please read them carefully.
2. What NannyFinder is — and what it is not
NannyFinder is an online platform that helps families and nannies find and communicate with each other, including families who wish to share a nanny with another family (a "nanny share").
NannyFinder is not:
- an employment agency, staffing agency, or nanny placement service, and we do not refer or recommend any user to another;
- a party to any agreement, arrangement, or employment relationship you enter into with any other user;
- an employer, co-employer, or joint employer of any nanny, and does not direct, supervise, schedule, pay, or control the work of any nanny found through the Service;
- a background check, screening, licensing, or credentialing service.
All arrangements for childcare — including hiring, scheduling, pay, taxes, termination, and the conduct of any in-person meeting or care — are solely between the families and the nanny involved. NannyFinder is not responsible for and does not guarantee the outcome, safety, legality, or quality of any arrangement made between users.
Families as employers. A family that hires a nanny is typically that nanny's employer. Each family is responsible for complying with the laws that apply to that relationship, including wage and hour, payroll tax, work eligibility, and fair-chance hiring laws.
Nanny shares. In a nanny share, the terms are agreed between the two families and the nanny. Marking a share or hire as confirmed on NannyFinder does not create any agreement with NannyFinder. Any sample agreement we provide is a general template for your convenience, is not legal advice, and may not fit your situation; you should have it reviewed by your own advisor. You use any sample agreement at your own risk: the families and the nanny decide its final terms and are responsible for them, and NannyFinder is not responsible for any agreement you make with it or how it turns out.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a legally binding contract.
- Families may use the Service only to find care for their own children or children for whom they are a legal guardian. Nannies may use the Service only to find work for themselves.
- You may have only one account, and you may not let anyone else use it.
- You may not create an account if we have previously suspended or removed you.
- You agree to provide accurate, current information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials confidential.
4. Profile information is self-reported
This is important, please read carefully.
Everything in a user's profile — including but not limited to identity, name, age, location, experience, certifications, CPR/first-aid status, driving record, and background-check status — is entered and self-reported by that user. NannyFinder:
- does not verify the identity of any user;
- does not conduct or independently confirm the results of any criminal background check, sex-offender registry check, driving record check, reference check, or employment eligibility check on any user;
- does not verify the accuracy of any certification, credential, license, recommendation, or claim made in a profile; and
- makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, about the suitability, safety, reliability, or character of any user.
You are solely responsible for independently vetting anyone you meet or engage through the Service before allowing them into your home or entrusting them with the care of a child, or before accepting a childcare arrangement. This should include, at a minimum, your own independent background check, verification of references, an in-person interview, and any other due diligence you would normally perform before hiring or working for someone in a childcare role.
5. How the Service works
- Families start conversations. Only families can send the first message. Nannies can let a family know they're interested, and the family decides whether to reply.
- Who sees what. Visitors who aren't signed in see limited profile cards. Full profiles, messaging, and the map are for members. Your home address is never shown to anyone; the map shows an approximate area only.
- Recommendations. A nanny can ask people she has worked for to write a recommendation. A recommendation is shown only after the nanny approves it. The nanny can hide it and the writer can remove it at any time. Recommendations are the writer's own opinion and are not verified by NannyFinder, except that we may note when a confirmed hire between the writer and the nanny exists on NannyFinder.
- Market status. You can mark yourself as found or taking a break, which hides you from search.
6. Background checks
NannyFinder does not currently offer or run background checks on any user. If a profile says a user has had a background check, that is the user's own claim and has not been confirmed by us. If we add an optional background check in the future, we will update these Terms before it is offered.
7. Fees
Creating an account, searching, and messaging are currently free. If we add paid features, we will show the price before you pay, and payments will be handled by a third-party payment provider. If we suspend or remove your account for violating these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund of any fee you paid.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post, including your profile, photos, messages, and any recommendation you write. You give NannyFinder a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, copy, display, and adapt that content (for example, resizing photos or blurring a family photo for signed-out visitors) as needed to operate, improve, and provide the Service. This license ends when you remove the content or delete your account, except for copies we keep as described in our Privacy Policy and messages that remain visible to the people you sent them to.
You are responsible for your content and confirm that you have the right to post it. You may not post photos of other people's children without their parent's permission. We may remove any content that violates these Terms or that we believe is harmful.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
9. User conduct
You agree not to:
- provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information in your profile, messages, or recommendations;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
- write a recommendation for someone you haven't worked with, write one for yourself, or offer or accept anything in exchange for one;
- use the Service to harass, threaten, discriminate against, or harm another user;
- contact a user who has blocked you, or try to get around a block, suspension, or removal, including by creating a new account;
- as a nanny, use the Service to contact families in ways other than those the Service provides;
- use the Service or information from it for advertising, recruiting for another service, spam, or any purpose other than finding childcare or childcare work for yourself;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates any applicable local, state, or federal law;
- attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Service; or
- scrape, harvest, or collect information about other users, by automated means or otherwise.
10. Reporting, blocking, suspension, and termination
You can report or block any user at any time. We review reports and may keep a copy of the messages and profile information involved. Blocking hides you and the other user from each other.
We may suspend or terminate your account, hide your profile, or remove content at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms, is harmful to other users, or is otherwise inappropriate — including in response to a report from another user. If we suspend or remove you, you may not create a new account, and we may keep your email address on file to prevent this.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your profile settings.
11. Assumption of risk
Use of the Service involves connecting with other individuals for the purpose of arranging in-person childcare, which necessarily involves interacting with people you have not met before, in your home or another private setting, often involving children. You understand and accept that this carries inherent risk, and you voluntarily assume all risks arising from your use of the Service and from any interaction, meeting, communication, or arrangement — whether online or in person — with another user, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Disputes between users; release
Disputes between users, including about pay, schedules, or the end of a share or hire, are between those users. NannyFinder has no obligation to become involved. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release NannyFinder and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from claims, demands, and damages of every kind arising out of or connected with any dispute between you and another user.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL INFORMATION, CONTENT, AND MATERIALS ON IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY USER OR ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED BY A USER IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, SAFE, OR RELIABLE.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NANNYFINDER AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, INCOME, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY INTERACTION, ARRANGEMENT, OR RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER USER — INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY INJURY, DAMAGE, OR LOSS ARISING FROM AN IN-PERSON MEETING OR CHILDCARE ARRANGEMENT MADE THROUGH THE SERVICE — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NannyFinder and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms or of any law; (c) your interaction, arrangement, or relationship with another user, including any in-person meeting or childcare arrangement and any employment obligations; or (d) content or information you submit to the Service.
16. Electronic communications
By creating an account, you agree that we may send you emails about your account and activity on the Service, such as new messages, interest from a nanny, match confirmations, and safety notices, and that these electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.
17. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, email hello@nannyfinder.io with a description of the work, where it appears on the Service, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized.
18. Resolving disputes
Talk to us first. If you have a dispute with NannyFinder, you agree to first email hello@nannyfinder.io describing the problem and what you are asking for, and to give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally before starting any legal proceeding.
Where claims are brought. Any claim that isn't resolved informally must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and you and NannyFinder consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court where it qualifies.
Individual claims only. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and NannyFinder may bring claims against each other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action.
19. Governing law
These Terms and any dispute between you and NannyFinder are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify you by email or on the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect, unless the change is required by law or addresses user safety. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
21. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms or your account; we may transfer them as part of a merger, sale, or reorganization. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and NannyFinder about the Service.
22. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@nannyfinder.io.
